In a WBA cruiserweight title eliminator Jones scored a controversial fourth round stoppage win against former WBC cruiserweight king Wayne Braithwaite. Jones controlled the opening round by out-punching the naturally bigger Braithwaite with solid right hands. Jones was not as effective in the second round as Braithwaite increased the pace to finish strongly and also adopted the same tactics to win the third session.

WBA cuiserweight champion Jean-Marc Mormeck retained his WBA belt and seized Wayne Braithwaite's WBC crown with a clear cut unanimous decision Saturday night at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. The previously undefeated Braithwaite (21-1, 17 KOs) started strong but Mormeck (31-2, 21 KOs) was able to connect with some good right hands. Maybe it is because the champion of the division was not asking for unification or was not willing to make unification. This time, I was asking for unification. Braithwaite also wants to also make the unification so that is why it has happened just... ... tough fight, but there is something that is for sure. �Big Truck� will be �Baby Truck� and I will return to France because it is my country and I will return with both belts...

- Now that we're on the subject, how did you get the nickname �Big Truck�? Was this something you earned or is it something that has stuck with you since you were a kid? Wayne Braithwaite: "No, it was something that I earned. In my career nothing was given to me. I had to work for everything I have. I got the nickname in my first pro fight. I fought an opponent by the name of John Douglas back home in Guyana. I knocked Douglas out in four rounds. After the fight, they asked him to describe my punching power. His exact words were, �It felt like I got hit with a big truck...�
