Top rated IBF super featherweight contender Rances “Kid Blast” Barthelemy (20-0, 12 KOs) dethroned IBF titleholder Argenis “La Tormenta” Mendez (20-3-1, 11 KOs) for the second time on Thursday night at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

This time it will stick.

Barthelemy KO’d Mendez in their first fight in January, but that result was later changed to a no-decision after a review and Mendez got back the title. This time, Barthelemy took the fight to Mendez and won a twelve round unanimous decision. Scores were 115-111 on all cards. Barthelemy was deducted a point for a low blow in round nine by referee Telis Assimenios. Another point was taken from Barthelemy for a low blow in round ten. “Kid Blast” managed to get through the last two rounds without being DQ’d and took home the title.

In an interesting light heavyweight clash, WBC #3 rated Humberto “El Don” Savigne (13-1, 10 KOs) scored a second round TKO over former world champion Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy (26-5, 18 KOs). Savigne dropped Lacy in round one and the bout was stopped in round two after Savigne landed a series of unanswered punches. Time was 2:04.

Undefeated 18-year-old welterweight prospect Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (6-0, 5 KOs) went the distance for the first time, taking an eight round unanimous excision over veteran Noe “Platanito” Bolanos (25-10-1, 16 KOs). Scores were 80-72 on all cards.

Light heavyweight Yunier Dorticos (18-0, 17 KOs) scored a one-sided ten round unanimous decision over fan favorite Edison Miranda (35-10, 30 KOs). Scores were 99-91, 100-90, 100-90. Four straight losses now for Miranda, who hasn’t won since 2011.
