In a clash of junior middleweight KO artists, James “Mandingo Warrior” Kirkland (30-1, 27 KOs) scored a sixth round TKO over Alfredo “Perro” Angulo (20-2-1, 17 KOs) on Saturday night at the Cancun Center in Cancun, Mexico. In a wild first round, Angulo dropped Kirkland and launched a fearsome attack that Kirkland weathered and then came back to drop Angulo! Angulo never really recovered and Kirkland pummeled Angulo for the rest of the fight before the referee stepped in.
Middleweight Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (26-0, 20 KOs) scored a sixth round TKO over Craig McEwan (19-2, 10 KOs). Quillin was in command the whole fight and had staggered McEwan in the sixth, but the bout was prematurely waved off even though McEwen seemed to have plenty of fight left in him.
