Bute defeats Johnson

IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KOs) scored a dominant twelve round unanimous decision over 42-year-old Glen “The Road Warrior” Johnson (51-16-2, 35 KOs) on Saturday night at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City. Johnson was never able to solve the style of the southpaw champion, although he did end Bute’s string of six straight KOs. Scores were 119-109, 120-108, 120-108. Bute will now attend the Super Six Final in December and hopes to face the winner. Meanwhile Johnson stated after the fight that he thought he won the fight.

Rising Canadian junior welterweight star Pier-Olivier Côté (18-0, 12 KOs), of Quebec City, scored a spectacular second round knockout of Jorge Luis Teron (25-2-1, 17 KOs), of the Bronx, New York. Côté attacked from the opening bell and rocked Teron in round one. He dropped Teron twice in round two to end it at :33 of round two.
