Mexican ring legend Erik Morales (52-7, 36 KOs) made history by becoming the first Mexican fighter to claim world titles in four weight divisions. Morales scored a tenth round TKO over previously unbeaten late sub Pablo Cesar Cano (23-1-1, 18 KOs) to claim the vacant WBC super lightweight championship on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Morales broke open a see-saw battle and badly busted up Cano’s face late in the fight. Cano’s corner stopped the fight after the tenth. The 21-year-old WBC #12 Cano took the bout on short notice after Lucas Matthysse pulled out.
