Hungarian Karoly Balzsay is the new WBA super middleweight regular world champion, winning a unanimous decision over Ukrainian Stanyslav Kashtanov on Friday at the Donbass Arena in the city of Donetsk, Ukraine in an event hosted by Union Boxing Promotion (Yury Ruban). Scores were Pasquale Procopio 115-113, Stefano Carozza 115-114 Jean-Louis Legland 116-111. The 168-pound regular crown was vacant, American Andre Ward is the current “super” WBA world champion, while the Irishman Brian Magee is the interim champion of the organization after his victory in the XXIII KO Drugs Festival in Costa Rica.
