Senchenko retains WBA title

Ukrainian Vyacheslav Senchenko won by sixth round TKO over Venezuelan challenger Marco Avendaño to retain his WBA welterweight world championship on Friday at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine. Senchenko successfully defended his title for the third time.

Meanwhile Venezuela continues in search of a reigning world champion. The next opportunity is on October 15 when the former two-division world champion Jorge “Niño de Oro” Linares seeks the vacant WBC lightweight world title against Mexican Antonio DeMarco, in Los Angeles.
