Unbeaten 6’6 heavyweight contender Robert Helenius (16-0, 11 KOs) scored a ninth round TKO over former WBO champion Siarhei Liakhovich (25-4, 16 KOs). After a relatively quiet seven rounds, Helenius battered Liakhovich to a knee at the end of round eight. Helenius immediately attacked the still dazed Liakhovich in round nine with a barrage of hard shots and referee Stabley Christdodoulou stopped the fight as Liakhovich crumpled to the canvas. Time was :19. Helenius retains his WBA and WBO Inter-Continental belts. Liakhovich joins Lamon Brewster and Sam Peter as former heavyweight champions to be kayoed by the “Nordic Nightmare.”
