Former IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron (33-4-1, 28 KOs) ended a two-fight losing streak by outpointing Antwone Smith (20-3-1, 12 KOs) over ten rounds in a jr middleweight clash on Friday night at the Ameristar Casino, Saint Charles, Missouri. In a tactical fight, Cintron’s workrate made the difference in a 98-92, 97-93, 96-94 unanimous decision.
WBC #13 lightweight Dannie Williams (19-1, 15 KOs) scored a spectacular fourth round KO over Antonio Cervantes (16-6-5, 11 KOs). Williams dropped Cervantes with a left hook in round one and then leveled him with a right hand in round four to end it. Time was 1:05.
In a clash of unbeaten welterweights, Keandre Gibson (4-0-1, 2 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over Lawrence Hughes (4-1, 3 KOs). Gibson knocked down Hughes in rounds two and three, en route to a 59-53, 60-52, 60-51 verdict.
