Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KOs) believes that he will successfully defend his light heavyweight world title belt against Chad Dawson on October 15th at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Dawson (30-1, 17 KOs) does not believe he will. The fight will headline an aptly-titled “Believe it or not” fight card, presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions. Both fighters were at the midday press conference on Monday, where both guaranteed victory less than 10 weeks from now. Also on the HBO Pay Per View card will be Jorge Linares (31-1, 20 KOs) taking on Antonio DeMarco (25-2-1, 18 KOs) in a 12 round bout for a vacant world title belt. Bernard Hopkins: “I don’t want any kids, least his (Dawson’s) to watch this fight. This is going to be rated R. I have to go out there again and prove why I’m special. Now I have another mission and that is to defend my title successfully like Archie Moore did when he was 47, 48 years old. I believe that I’ve brought life back into the light heavyweight division.”

Chad Dawson: “I’ve been chasing Bernard Hopkins for three years. I’m a different person now since the Pascal fight. I’m problem-free and stress-free. I’m going to show why I’m bett than him. October 15th is going to be my night.”

Richard Schaefer: “Bernard has made believers out of people with his victories over Felix Trinidad, Antonio Tarver, Kelly Pavlik, and Jean Pascal. People thought that Bernard couldn’t do it, but he was able to make believers out of them. On October 15th, Bernard will again make believers out of people when he defeats Chad Dawson.”

Gary Shaw: “Richard Schaefer has just become a believer out of Bernard Hopkins. I’ve always been a believer in Bernard and the amazing things he has accomplished. On October 15th, his run will come to an end. I believe I have the best light heavyweight in the world.”

Jorge Linares: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to train here in Los Angeles and to fight for another world title. We came here to work hard in Los Angeles. This is the big leagues and I’m here to grow and train hard. I will crown myself champion on October 15th.”

Antonio DeMarco: “I’m thankful for the opportunity for this fight. The only thought in my mind is to win on October 15th. I hope to live up to what my grandfather said and that is to be the best possible at what I do.”
