Ameth Diaz Shocks Lenny Z, Fifth Round TKO Win

At the Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington, Victoria, Australia, lightweight contender Lenny "Lenny Z" Zappavigna (25-2, 17 KOs) was stunned in five rounds, as gatekeeper Ameth Diaz (30-10, 21 KOs) picked up the biggest win of his career in an IBF elminator. Diaz earns the right to face IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez. Lenny Z was coming off a twelve round decision loss to Vazquez, which took place in March on the Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga card in Las Vegas. Against Diaz, he was stunned in the second round and dropped. He managed to battle back until he was once againt caught in the fifth and battered until his corner stopped the contest.

Super featherweight Marvin Quintero (21-3, 17 KOs) will now face late sub Juan Santiago (13-6-1, 8 KOs) in a scheduled ten rounder on ESPN2′s “Friday Night Fights” from the Pechanga Resort and Casino.
