WBA light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov (12-1, 8 KOs) stopped Danny Santiago (31-5, 19 KOs) in round nine on Friday night at South Point Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. A barrage of punches prompted referee Tony Weeks to stop the one-sided affair. Time was :46. Former WBC champion Jean Pascal was in attendance and both he and Shumenov said they are interested in a showdown.
