Eddy "Chepo" Reynoso, trainer of WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, has confirmed that his boxer will be facing Alfonso Gomez on September 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Alvarez, who celebrates his 21st birthday, will head back to Big Bear, California to train for the fight. Alvarez has already been jogging and doing light work for the fight.

Reynoso said: "Golden Boy sent Gomez the contract and it's already signed. The press conference will be held on the 26th of this month in Los Angeles. On Tuesday we will resume training, by jogging in the morning and start hitting. Last week he was working well. We'll go [to Big Bear] on August 8 or 9."
