In a one-sided affair, WBC super welterweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (37-0-1, 27 KOs) scored a twelfth round TKO over WBC #3 rated Ryan Rhodes (45-5, 31 KOs) on Saturday night at the Arena Vicente Fernandez in Guadalajara, Mexico. Alvarez punished Rhodes for the most part, dropping him in round four. Rhodes didn’t punch much as the bout progressed, allowing “Canelo” to compile a big lead. To his credit, Rhodes tried for the KO in the last round, but the bout was waved off by referee Hector Afu after Alvarez landed some good shots.
