“Son of the Legend” Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30 KOs) won a twelve round majority decision over WBC middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik (30-1, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Chavez rehydrated to 180 pounds while Zbik went to 165 after yesterday’s weigh-in. Zbik was much busier and more accurate while Chavez landed the more damaging blows and did some good bodywork. Chavez bodyshots to the liver landed regularly thrilling the pro-Chavez crowd. Zbik landed many flush shots to Chavez’ head. Scores were 115-113, 116-112, 114-114.
