Garcia Brothers win title fights

The Garcia Brothers joined the Klitschko Brothers as simultaneously reigning brother world champions as both were victorious in world title fights on Saturday night at the Foro Polanco in Mexico City.

WBO minimumweight champion Raúl “Rayito” García (30-1-1, 18 KOs) stopped Rommel Asenjo (20-3, 16 KOs) in round three. Garcia dropped Asenjo in round three and the bout was waved off by referee Raul Caiz after Asenjo was staggered in Garcia’s follow up barrage. Time was 2:52.

Former WBO interim jr flyweight champion Ramón “Príncipe” García (16-2-1, 9 KOs) regained that belt, plus revenge with a fourth round knockout over reigning titleholder Jesús Geles (12-2-1, 5 KOs). Garcia dropped Geles in round one and round four, not beating referee Jose Rivera’s count after the second knockdown. Time was 1:15. Geles had taken Gracia’s belt by split decision back in December in his native Colombia.
