In a WBC lightweight eliminator, #1 rated Antonio DeMarco (25-2-1, 18 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over #2 rated Reyes Sanchez (20-4-1, 11 KOs) bout in front of a packed house at the Heartland Events Center, Grand Island, Nebraska. Sanchez was cut over the left eye by a DeMarco straight left in round one, but the cut didn’t hinder him much. Sanchez was the aggressor and the busier fighter over the second half of the fight, while DeMarco landed the cleaner, harder shots throughout. Scores were 116-112, 117-111, 115-113. With the win, DeMarco earned a shot at WBC champion Humberto Soto and took Sanchez silver belt.

In a cruiserweight bout, former IBF super middleweight champion Alejandro Berrio (32, 5 29 KOs) scored a third round TKO over former middleweight contender Antwon Echols (32-16-4, 28 KOs). The bout was waved off by the referee at 1:04 of the third round after a sharp counter right uppercut ended matters.

Lightweight Marvin Quintero improved his record to 21-3 with 17 KOs when he stopped journeyman Lowell Brownfield (11-7-1, 4 KOs) at 2:50 of the third round. Brownfield received a standing eight count in round three but was then overwhelmed by a vicious body attack by Quintero causing a stoppage by the ref. Quintero served as the lead sparing partner for Antonio DeMarco leading up to this bout.

Local jr welterweight prospect and Cameron Dunkin-managed fighter Terence Crawford (13-0, 10 KOs) landed a devastating left hook to the jaw to drop journeyman Anthony Mora (15-7, 5 KOs). Mora was badly hurt and was not able to beat the count. The time of the knockout was 1:58 of the first round. Crawford received a loud ovation from the crowd.

Unbeaten cruiserweight Brad Pitt (7-0, 5 KOs) recovered from a third round knockdown to outpoint Joshua Harris (7-4, 5 KOs) over six rounds. In an exciting back and forth brawl, the undefeated Pitt was able to win on all three judges’ cards by scores of 58-53 twice and 57-54.

In a middleweight war, Kurtiss Colvin (4-0, 3 KOs) won a majority decision over Cameron Allen (3-5, 1 KO). The Gary Shaw-promoted Colvin was knocked down in the first round and received a standing eight-count in the third. However, Colvin rallied, flooring Allen in the third and forcing a standing eight later in the round. Both fighters received a large ovation for their efforts. Great fight. Judges had it 36-36 and 37-35, 38-36 for Colvin.

Local bantamweight Johnny Detterman needed just 61 seconds to demolish Randy Ronchi in the first round. Detterman landed a flush right hook to the jaw of Ronchi and the bout was waved off. Detterman improves to 2-0 with 2 KOs and Ronchi falls to 0-3.

Local jr welterweight Brandon Quintana improved to 3-6, 3 KOs when he landed a flush overhand right on journeyman fighter Eric Bradford (0-6). Bradford beat the count but the ref waved the fight off at 2:13 of round two. The stoppage was a bit early and the crowd displayed their disappointment with boos.
