WBC light flyweight world champion Gilberto Keb Baas (35-20-4, 22 KOs) retained his world title by TKO at the beginning of round number nine when compatriot and former WBC strawweight world champion Jose Antonio “El Jaguar” Aguirre (35-10-1, 21 KOs) didn’t come out for round nine on Saturday night at the Poliforum Zamna in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Keb Baas dominated the entire fight and put Aguirre in bad shape near the end. Next up for Keb Baas could be a fight with mandatory challenger Adrian “Confesor” Hernandez (20-1-1, 12 KOs).

Former WBA super featherweight world champion Juan Carlos Salgado (23-1-1, 16 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Guadalupe “Bronco” Rosales (28-7, 16 KOs) in a rematch. Judges scored it 97-93, 98-92, 97-93. Salgado is a new member of HG Boxing stable.

Local fighter and WBC Silver super flyweight world champion Wilbert Uicab (31-5-1, 18 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Edwin Diaz (12-17, 5 KOs). Scores were 119-109, 116-111, 119-108.

Undefeated Mexican Olympic super bantamweight prospect Giovanni “Rey” Vargas (5-0, 5 KOs) scored a third round TKO over Mario Garcia (0-4).
