Unbeaten welterweight Jesse Vargas (14-0, 7 KOs) won an unpopular eight round unanimous decision over late sub Cristian Favela (19-31-7, 10 KOs) on Thursday night at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. Favela was the aggressor in the fight, but came out on the short end 79-73, 78-74, 77-75.

Hard-hitting Bastie Samir (10-0, 10 KOs) lived up to his reputation as he stopped Eddie Hunter of the third round of a scheduled six round bout. Hunter held his own early on against Samir, but was staggered by a hard left hook to the chin. Hunter tried to fight back, but was out on his feet as Samir landed another left hook, prompting referee Raul Caiz, Jr. to stop the bout at 51 seconds.

Lightweight Jamie Kavanagh remained unbeaten with a six round unanimous decision over Ramon Flores. Flores stunned Kavanagh with an overhand right in the opening moments of the first round. Kavanagh (5-0, 2 KOs) recovered and was able to dominate most of the action. Flores (3-11-2, 3 KOs) tried to make the fight a brawl, but Kavanagh was able to effectively counter with left hooks and lead right hands to the head and body. All three judges scored the bout 60-54 in favor of Kavanagh.
