WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KOs) scored a third round TKO over 39-year-old former Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison (27-5, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England. Little action in round one brought booing from the crowd. Haye was a bit more aggressive in round two, while Harrison was again very passive. Haye finally opened up in round three and floored Audley with a barrage of punches. Harrison beat the count, but referee Luis Pabon stopped it moments later after more punishment from Haye. Time was 1:53.
After the fight, Haye stated that he could have knocked out Harrison at any time but waited until round three because his friends had made bets on him winning via third round KO. He also guaranteed that he would fight one of the the Klitschkos in 2011.
