WBA #12 rated heavyweight Timur Ibragimov (29-2-1, 16 KOs) scored a tenth round KO over previously unbeaten former two-time Olympian Gurcharan Singh (20-1, 11 KOs) on Tuesday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. In the co-feature, unbeaten welterweight Brad “The King” Solomon (13-0, 4 KOs) stopped veteran Wilfredo “Papin” Negron (26-15-1, 19 KOs) in round six for the WBA International and WBC Latino welterweight titles.
Full Report: The Heavyweight Factory put on its best show to date with an 8 fight card in front of a small but enthusiastic crowd at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fl.
In the main event, former Olympians Timur Ibragimov, 225 ½, Hallandale, FL and Guru Singh, 221, Atlantic City, NJ squared off in a scheduled 10 rounder for the vacant WBO Intercontinental heavyweight title. Ibragimov, who boxed in the 1996 Olympics for his native Uzbekistan, was busier and landed the harder shots all night. Singh mounted little offense except for the occasional quick jab or one-two combination.
The first half of the fight was marred by frequent holding on the part of both fighters. As the fight progressed, they each let their hands go a little more, which was to Ibragimov’s advantage as he landed powerful right hands to the head.
At the end of the ninth, a right hand drove Singh to the ropes, three more rights put the 2000 Indian Olympian on the canvass.
In the tenth, a right hook/uppercut stunned Singh. Ibragimov followed up with a perfect straight right to the jaw that dropped his foe. Though Singh was able to get up, he was clearly hurt. Ibragimov landed several more head shots and referee Frank Santore, Jr. wisely halted the fight at 1:45.
Ibragimov climbs to 29-2-1 (16). Singh loses for the first time as a pro and slips to 20-1 (11)
In the co-feature, three time national Golden Gloves champion Brad Solomon dominated veteran Wilfredo Negron en route to a sixth round TKO. The Lafayette, Louisiana native displayed a blazing left hook and the ability to throw punches in bunches. Solomon, the first non-heavyweight signed by The Heavyweight Factory, captured the vacant WBA International and WBO Latino welterweight titles. Solomon is now 13-0 (5), Negron, from Toa Alta, Puerto Rico drops to 26-15-1 (19)
