Little Falls' Kathy Duva, whose Totowa-based Main Events promotes Tomasz Adamek (42-1, 27 KOs), has been offered fights against each Klitschko brother this year, but she has patiently tried to make the fight as profitable as possible for Adamek, a Kearny resident from Gilowice, Poland. The fight could be worth at least $3 million for Adamek, who likely will have to travel to Germany to fight Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KOs) or Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KOs).
Meanwhile, Adamek has become one of boxing's biggest attractions in the United States. His last two fights at Prudential Center have drawn enthusiastic, flag-waving crowds in excess of 10,000.
In the aftermath of his win over Michael Grant on Saturday night, Adamek, 33, received five stitches apiece on cuts over each eye Sunday, but those wounds are expected to heal in time for him to fight Nov. 6 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. His opponent hasn't been chosen, but 6-8, 250-pound Lance "Mount" Whitaker is among the options BoxingScene.com was told that Duva is considering.
If Adamek overcomes Whitaker (35-6-1, 28 KOs), a fight against one of the Klitschko brothers probably would be next.
