WBO cruiserweight world champion Marco “Käpt’n” Huck (30-1, 23 KOs) overwhelmed challenger Matt Godfrey (20-2, 10 KOs), stopping him in round five on Saturday night at the Messehalle in Erfurt, Germany. The aggressive and powerful Huck was way too strong for Godfrey, dropping Godfrey for the first time at the end of round two. Godfrey was down again in round three after a low blow from Huck, thrown as he punished Godfrey on the ropes. After a one-sided round four, Huck floored Godfrey twice in round five (knocking him through the ropes the second time) and after further punishment, referee Geno Rodriguez waved off the slaughter. Time was 2:18.
