In a video statement posted early this morning on the K2 Ukraine website Ê2ukraine.com, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko questioned the courage of the seven-foot former champion Nikolai Valuev. Klitschko has tried everything in his power to make the fight, including a recent face to face meeting in Russia to present a $1.5 million dollar offer to Valuev in person. Klitschko said Valuev's team continues to make additional demands.
"In the ring, we will immediately find out what a person is made of. That is why, perhaps, Nikolai Valuev afraid to box with me. Millions are waiting for our fight to happen. They are tired of watching a grown man behave like a child. Nicholas, there is nothing to fear. Being a slave to fear, that's the worst kind of slavery. Remember this, or engage in another sport. I did everything to make this fight happen, but the Nikolai Valuev's team continues to bring more and more conditions. I see no reason to continue negotiations. Who ever heard of a champion trying to persuade a contender? If Nikolai is able to conquer his fear, then we may once again revisit this conversation," - Klitschko said in the video:
