Despaigne defeats Hall

Undefeated Cuban light heavyweight Yordanis Despaigne (6-0, 4 KOs) won a workmanlike ten round unanimous decision over veteran Richard Hall (29-8, 27 KOs) in a ten-rounder on Friday night at the Isleta Casino & Resort in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Despaigne outworked Hall all the way, winning by scores of 100-90 on all cards.

Heavyweight Seth Mitchell (17-0-1, 11 KOs) dropped Johnnie White (22-2, 18 KOs) in round one and finished him in round two. Time was 1:18.

In other action: Headlining the local main event, Albuquerque cruiserweight “Mad” Mike Alderete (7-4-2, 3 KOs) weathered a first round knockdown to edge “Mad” Max Heyman (23-11-4, 13 KOs) by split decision. Heyman abandoned his jab to let Alderete take the fight by sheer aggression. Scorecards read 76-75, 77-74 and 75-76.

Albuquerque jr. featherweight Josh Gomez (2-0, 1 KO) slaughtered overmatched Derrick Lopez (0-4) in just :29; Comebacking jr. middleweight Jose “The Goose” Ramirez (11-10, 6 KOs), of Albuquerque, dropped Lucas “The Ghost” Galle (6-5) in round two en route to a four round decision, scores of 39-36 twice and 38-37; Albuquerque jr. featherweight Randy “Savage” Arrellin (4-3, 3 KOs) stole the undercard show with a savage TKO beating of Willie Villanueva (9-2, 2 KOs), knocking his foe down a handful of times before the stoppage at :31 of round four; In the opener, a female four-rounder at feather, Amanda Crepin (2-1-1) pitched a shutout over Clare De La Torre (1-10-1).
