Mundine vs Golovkin Ordered For The Vacant WBA Title

20 Apr 2010 14:27       hits 5830 Print version

Gennady Golovkin (18-0, 15KOs) of Kazakhstan, but living in Germany, is finally getting close to his title shot. The WBA ordered Golovkin to fight former super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (38-3, 23KOs) of Australia for the vacant WBA middleweight title. A purse bid will take place on the afternoon of April 29 in Las Vegas. The title became vacant when the WBA gave champion Felix Sturm the status of "super champion."

Golovkin is going through some promotional problems with Universum. He claims to be a free agent and Universum does not agree. If Universum shows up at the purse bid and wins, will Golovkin actually accept the fight is the real question.
