WBC #2 rated heavyweight Odlanier “La Sombra” Solis (16-0, 12 KOs) scored a third round TKO over former world title challenger Carl Davis Drumond (26-3, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at Mallory Square in Key West, Florida. Solis started getting to Drumond in round three and Drumond surprisingly quit in his corner at the end of the round. After the bout, promoter Ahmet Öner said he wants Solis to fight Ray Austin in a final eliminator next. “Vitali Klitschko had the chance to accept Solis for his next voluntary title defense. He chose to fight Sosnowski instead and I think tonight everybody knows why. Solis is too dangerous. That’s why we will do all we can to make him mandatory challenger. As soon as Odlanier gets his hands on Vitali the reign of the Ukrainian brothers will be over.” Drumond, meanwhile, has now dropped three straight fights.
