In a Celtic encounter, Belfast resident Martin Lindsay (now 16-0, 7 KOs) retained his British featherweight title for the first time with a dominant decision over determined Welshman Jamie Arthur (16-3, 4 KOs) on Friday night at the Indoor Sports Centre in Leigh, England. Lindsay dropped the Cwmbran native twice with short but powerful right hooks in the second. It wasn’t enough to stop Arthur at all but it was just enough to stop the challenger in his tracks. IBF #6 Lindsay continued to box smoothly till the end giving Arthur little chance for retaliation. The champion was a bit faster, a bit tighter with his guard, a bit more consistent – and at the end by far a better boxer in the ring than the Welshman. Judges gave it to Lindsay unanimously 118-108, 119-108 and 117-110. Fightnews scored the battle 117-109 for the defending champion.

In a battle of two former British titlists, bantamweight ex-champion Gary Davies (10-3-1, 8 KOs) scored a devastating first-round stoppage of super flyweight ex-master Andy Bell (11-6, 3 KOs). Bell was decked twice by huge right hands of Davies before the stoppage.

Towering (6′8”) British heavyweight prospect David Price (5-0, 4 KOs) moved on and up in the ranks with the first-round knockout of Martyn Grainger (3-3, 1 KO). Grainger was put to the canvas twice – after a slapping left hook and after a body punch by former British Olympian. Time of stoppage was 0:33.
