IBF junior flyweight champion Carlos Tamara of Colombia has placed a target on the back of WBO champion Ivan Calderon of Puerto Rico. Last Saturday in the Philippines, Tamara came back from behind to stop Brian Viloria in the twelfth round to capture the title. The win ruined a planned April unification between Calderon and Viloria. Now Tamara wants to take Viloria's place against Calderon.
"I am interested in the fight against Calderon," said Tamara to Primera Hora. "Calderon is looking for a title unification and had spoken about it before my fight against Viloria, but now is has to be me."
No issues with the location. Tamara is ready and willing to travel to Puerto Rico to give Calderon the homefield advantage. Tamara wants to come back to the ring by April.
"Let's sit down and negotiate it for the Roberto Clemente Coliseum. I have no problems going to Puerto Rico. I went to the Philippines to challenge Viloria, so for me it's the same. Calderon is good technically and I want to fight the best to be considered the best," Tamara said.
