WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is not concerned with his tag of having a suspect chin. Haye says the label was given to him after Carl Thompson stopped him in 2004. Haye says the tag will always stay with him no matter what he does.
"I'll always have a suspect chin, anyone who's been down always will have. Apart from Thompson I've never been on the canvas for longer than eight seconds. You can train yourself to take punishment," Haye said to GQ Magazine.
Prior to the fight with Thompson, Haye said that he didn't take training camp seriously and thought he could win every fight on pure talent. He learned a lesson that made him change his position on training and made him more dedicated to boxing.
"I realized talent can only get you so far. I'd had 10 easy fights before then and stopped them all. After a while you wouldn't bother training. Now I have more hunger," Haye said.
