The Austrian winter sports mecca of Sölden will host a high voltage super middleweight bout on Friday when unbeaten spotlight fighter Eduard “Eddy” Gutknecht (17-0, 7 KOs) defended his WBO Inter-Continental belt against former WBO world champion Karoly Balzsay (21-1, 15 KOs) after a tough and close fight. It was Balzsay’s second loss in a row after losing his title to Robert Stieglitz in August. Scores were 115-113, 116-112 for Gutknecht and 116-113 for Balzsay.
In a WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight clash between spotlight’s Zsolt Bedak (14-0, 4 KOs), rated WBO #3 and WBO #4 Ramie Laput (38-3, 18 KOs), the spotlight Fighter Bedak knocked down Laput in Round 7.
