At the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Ray Austin (28-4-4, 18 KOs) stopped DaVarryl Williamson (26-6, 22 KOs) in the fourth round of their WBC heavyweight eliminator. After some shaky moments in the first, Austin came back in the fourth to put Williamson down. Williamson was almost down for the full count. He was able to beat it but the fight was stopped immediately by the ref.

Austin is now in line to fight former champion Oleg Maskaev in a WBC final eliminator to set a mandatory challenger to champion Vitali Klitschko. Maskaev must win his next fight against Nagy Aguilera on December 11.
