Former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor admits that he wasn't fully prepared, physically, when he was stopped in the twelfth round of his fight with WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch back in April. Taylor knocked Froch down in the third round and was winning the fight until he ran out of gas and was stopped with less than a round to go in the contest.
He gets a chance at redemption when he faces undefeated Arthur Abraham in the first round of Showtime's Super Six tournament on October 17 at the O2 World Arena, in Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany. Taylor has been preparing for the fight of his life with trainer Ozell Nelson. He even did a lot of work in Texas with former heavyweight champion George Foreman. Taylor is already close to his fighting weight of 168-pounds. He vows that he won't gas out in the fight with Abraham.
"The only reason I lost to Carl Froch was because I got tired. I wasn't prepared. The best fighter lost because he didn't train right. I feel like I'm the bigger fighter. I'm a lot stronger. As long as I don't get tired I'm going to win the fight. I feel like I'm going to win the fight. I've done everything there is to do in boxing. I'm not ready to go yet. I feel like there is more to accomplish," Taylor said.
"I don't have a prediction on how long the fight will go. I don't care how I do it. I just want to win. I know Arthur is a big hitter. I know what I'm going to do and I know what needs to be done."
