WBO/WBC middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik is confident that his power will be a factor in the fight with Paul Williams on December 5. Pavlik says the possibility of a knockout win is very good. He says Williams is a very active puncher who throws a lot of punches per round. He wants to see how Williams reacts when just as many punches are coming back.
"The possibility [of knocking Williams out] is very good, with my power and my workrate. My style of fighting is that I wear fighters down. I throw a lot of punches a round. Williams never really fought a guy like that other than Margarito and Margarito is really a 147/154-pounder. Let's see how he reacts to it," Pavlik told BoxingScene.com's Bill Emes.
"He just punches in bunches. We just have to be in tip-top shape to counter. The question is going to be, what's going to happen in the later rounds, if the fight goes to the later rounds, and I catch him. What's he going to do when he has a natural middleweight hitting you on your shoulders, your stomach and your head. What's he going to do when someone else is throwing back 80 to 90 punches a round. How is he going to stand up to that? That's going to be the question of the fight."
