In the main event of a huge fight card billed as «World boxing in Dnepropetrovsk» undefeated Sergey «The Professor» Fedchenko (23-1-0, 11 ÊÎs) lost his IBF Inter-Continental light welterweight title by majority decision in a bout against Kaizer Mabuza (22-6-3, 13 ÊÎs) from South Africa. Both fighters clashed at a big boxing tournament which «K2 East Promotions» promotional company held at «Meteor» Sportpalace in Ukrainian city of Dnepropetrovsk on September 17th.

Mabuza gained a victory over Fedchenko due to his non-stop aggression, high work rate and surprisingly never-ending endurance. The South African fighter came into action from the very beginning of the fight and fulfilled his fight plan paying no attention to his rival’s punches.

At first Fedchenko who did not learn a lot about his opponent before the fight had to look for a weapon against continuously pressing Mabuza. Finally the champ more or less adjusted to Mabuza’s awkward style and decided in favor of counter-punching. However, the latter appeared to be not enough to exceed the contender who threw a hell of a lot of punches.

Fedchenko was cut over left eye in round 8 - bleeding drastically impaired his vision and he could hardly see Mabuza’s rights which were coming in dozens.

Later Fedchenko was cut over his right eye as well due to unintentional head butt which surely could not improve his situation. He looked more tired in champion rounds while Mabuza continued his attacks. Eventually the South African was awarded the victory by the score 114-114, 117-112 and 115-112.

On the undercard Vitaly Rusal (24-1, 17 KOs) made a successful comeback after KO loss to the reigning WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck. Rusal moved down to light heavyweight division where he made his debut against Vasyl Kondor (18-7-1, 5 KOs). Being a fighter of much lower skill Kondor did not have the ghost of a chance against Rusal. After Rusal’s several ferocious attacks in round 3 and at the beginning of round 4 Kondor was obviously dazed and the referee mercifully decided he had had enough.

Igor Fanyan TKO2 Dmitry Prytkov
Dmitry Kucher KO2 Konstantin Okhrey
Valentyn Golovko W(UD)8 Jahongir Mamajanov
Mamed Yadgarov TKO7 Levan Garibashvili
