WBA interim bantamweight champion Nehomar Cermeño (18-0, 10 KOs) defeated former unified super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares (36-6-2, 15 KOs) by twelve round unanimous decision to retain his WBA belt on Saturday night at the Arena Monterrey in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Scores were 117-111, 116-112 and 116-112. Cermeño previously won a split decision over Mijares in March. Mijares, who just ten months ago was unified WBA/WBC champion in this division, has since done a spectacular crash and burn, amazingly losing three straight.
