If there is one fighter that Brian Viloria wants to face, it's WBC junior flyweight champion Edgar Sosa of Mexico. Viloria wants to avange his April 2007 loss to Sosa by putting up his IBF title in a unification showdown. Viloria won a game decision over Mexican challenger Jesus “El Azul” Iribe at the Blaisdell Center in Hawaii. Sosa defends against Omar Soto on September 15 in Mexico. It will be the 10th defense for Sosa since winning the vacant title with a majority decision over Viloria.
Interviewed by Viloria said he wants a rematch with tormentor Edgar Sosa of Mexico, holder of the World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight belt.
“There are big names right now in the division that I want to fight and continue my reign,” said Viloria to The Philippine Daily Inquirer. “Hopefully, at the end of the year, Sosa will agree to a rematch because I’ve got an unfinished business with him.”
“My bouts after the loss to Sosa taught me how to be resilient. The [Ulises] Solis fight is my most memorable one. It was bigger than the first title because back then, if I lost that fight I would have reconsidered my career.”
