In order for Paul Williams and his promoter Dan Goossen to agree to a Decemeber 5 date against WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik, an extensive medical report will need to be provided to Goossen and Team Williams for review. The fight was scheduled for October 3 and postponed after Pavlik withdrew with a staph infection in his left hand. Pavlik will return to the doctor in a few days to receive the full clearance for the December date.
Goossen told BoxingScene.com's Robert Morales that he wants to see everything in writing to make sure that Pavlik is fully cleared to go. They don't want to agree to a December 5 fight with the possibility that Pavlik is not 100%.
"It requires a much more extensive report to find out exactly what was wrong and what was done to resolve it so that we all feel comfortable moving forward with a healthy fighter," Goossen said. "Right now the most important aspect of this thing is getting a complete and full doctor's report so that we can make a determination of his availability."
