In «Dynamo» Palace of Sports, Grozny, Russian Federation Zaurbek Baysangurov (22-1, 16 KOs) completely outboxed and outpunched Eromosele Albert (22-3-1, 10 KOs) from Nigeria during 12 rounds of a lopsided battle and retained his WBA Inter-Continental light middleweight belt. Title clash was the main event of a big boxing tournament billed «The Champ Comes Home». This fight card was the first major boxing event in the history of the Chechen Republic.
Younger and faster Baysangurov boxed mainly from the inside. He landed more accurate punches which were more powerful as well. At the beginning Albert looked not so bad, however, by the middle of the fight he had almost completely faded out and young Chechen boxing star began to dominate in the ring completely.
In the champions rounds the Nigerian was very close to be kayoed and had to survive in the ring. Nevertheless he managed to go the full distance but undoubtedly Baysangurov was much better of the two.
Judges’ verdict was unanimous: 119-109, 119-109 and 120-108, all in favor of Chechen warrior who retained his title. This win is one of the most significant in his boxing career. After the fight happy Zaur was cordially greeted by both Wladimir Klitschko and Ramzan Kadyrov, president of the Chechen Republic.
UNDERCARD RESULTS:
Zaur’s younger brother Salambek Baysangurov (3-0-0, 2 ÊÎs) shone in the ring too. On the undercard of his brother’s triumphal title fight Salambek completely annihilated Semjons Moroseks (3-7-1, 1 ÊÎs) from Latvia. Moroseks went to the canvas twice within two rounds. Referee stopped the fight after the second knockdown
Heavyweight prospect Alexander Ustinov (17-0-0, 14 ÊÎs) left no chances for Talgat Dosanov (13-12-1, 6 ÊÎs). A giant of a man Ustinov who stepped into the ring weighing 303.1 pounds sent his opponent to the canvas three times in round 2. Eventually Ustinov won the fight by TKO in round 4.
