WBO Super flyweight champion Jose ‘Carita’ Lopez (37-7-2, 32 KOs) of Puerto Rico will make the first defense of his title on September 4th against Marvin Sonsona (13-0, 12 KOs) of the Philippines. The bout will take place at the Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada. “This is a very good matchup fought at a neutral site. Sonsona is a young hard-punching challenger and Lopez has trained extremely hard for this fight and knows that his experience advantage will be very important in order to defeat Sonsona,” stated Lopez promoter PR Best Boxing President Ivan Rivera. With a victory, Lopez is expected to return to the ring again at the end of October.
