Heavyweight Fres “The Big O” Oquendo (31-5, 19 KOs) impressively picked apart former world champ Bruce “The Atlantic City Express” Seldon (40-8, 36 KOs) Friday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Oquendo outboxed Seldon throughout and despite coming in seemingly great shape Seldon’s aggression was no match for the slick and very talented Oquendo. Picking his spots and putting good combinations together, Oquendo had Seldon in serious problems in the seventh, but he was saved by the bell. Seldon then took a knee in the eight after absorbing punishment, and again in the ninth when he allowed for Referee Pete Podgorski to reach the count of ten. The time was 2:35.
