Khan-Maidana in October

A source out of Argentina is stating that a bout between newly crowned WBA super lightweight champion Amir Khan (21-1, 15 KOs) and WBA interim super light weight champion Marcos Maidana (26-1, 25 KOs) could be in the works for October in England. Both fighters are coming off of career best wins. Khan won the WBA super lightweight title by unanimous decision over Adreas Kotelnik last weekend while Maidana won his interim title by impressively stopping Victor Ortiz in 5 rounds last month.

On the 25th of this month, Marcos Maidana (31-2-0, 28 KOs) will move up to the welterweight division to face Devon Alexander (22-1-0, 13 KOs), who also makes his first appearance at 147. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has announced that Robert Guerrero injured his shoulder in a sparring session which took place on Wednesday in Big Bear, California, and the scheduled fight with Marcos Maidana on August 27th in San Jose, California has been cancelled. According to Marco Maidana, the WBA junior welterweight champion, Amir Khan, is using his legal team to avoid a possible fall rematch. They fought in December in a «Fight of The Year» twelve round rumble, which Khan won by decision. In April, Maidana won a twelve round majority decision over Erik Morales to become the WBA’s interim champion, and Khan’s mandatory. Maidana is looking to return in August or September

WBA interim-junior welterweight champion Marcos Maidana has used a photo to fire back at Victor Ortiz, the WBC’s welterweight champion.
