Former WBA world champion Diosbelys Hurtado (42-3-1, 25 KOs) pounded out a twelve round unanimous decision over Manuel “Marro” Garnica (25-11, 13 KOs) on Friday night at Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in Miami, Florida. Scores were 118-110, 117-111, 117-111. The bout was for the WBO Latino welterweight title.

The card promoted by All Star Boxing, Inc., “The New Generation” and Felix “Tuto” Zabala, Jr. also included some interesting undercard action. 2004 Olympic heavyweight gold medalist Odlanier “La Sombra” Solis (14-0, 9 KOs) was impressive in his Miami, Florida, debut, blowing away Midwest journeyman Dominique “Diamond” Alexander (18-7-1, 9 KOs) in the first round. Solis dropped Alexander twice, the second time Alexander fell face down for the count.

Morua got off to a good start, flooring an off balance Hurtado in round one. But Hurtado clawed his way back into the fight, and despite a heavily bleeding cut over his right eye, posted a 114-113 win on two judges’ cards. The third judge had Morua up 114-113.
