Heavyweight prospect Alexander Ustinov (15-0-0, 13 ÊÎs) who fights for «K2 East Promotions» will step into the ring on June 20th in Gelsenkirchen, Germany to collide against famous British fighter Michael Sprott (31-13-0, 16 ÊÎs). They will clash on the undercard of Wladimir Klitschko – Ruslan Chagaev fight on Veltins Arena, Schalke 04, German football club stadium which has a capacity of 75,000 spectators.

32-year-old Ustinov fought two times already this year and won both fights by early stoppage. In February two-meter tall giant from Minsk won by TKO in round 5 – Ustinov faced Ukrainian heavyweight Maksym Pedyura. That was the first defeat for Pedyura and as far as Ustinov was concerned that win brought him vacant EBA (European Boxing Association) heavyweight title.

Later in March in «Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle», Stuttgart, Germany on the undercard of Klitschko vs. Gomez WBC heavyweight title clash Ustinov dismantled Byron Polley (23-9-1, 11 ÊÎs) from the USA in two rounds. Alexander dropped Polley three times in the first round and then KO’d the American in round two. Byron Polley was a late sub for a much stronger opponent – originally Ustinov was set to face Danny Batchelder (25-6-1, 12 KOs), however, the latter was cut during sparring and had to reject the fight against Ustinov.

«K2 East Promotions» gradually but systematically finds more and more classy opponents for Ustinov having in mind that in 2010 he will be set to claim one of the world heavyweight titles. In order to fulfill such ambitious plans Alexander has to pass stern test while facing Michael Sprott. No doubt that 34-year-old British fighter from Reading will be the strongest and the most dangerous Ustinov’s rival so far.

Sprott, former holder of British heavyweight and Commonwealth (British Empire) heavyweight titles, three times EBU-EU (European Union) heavyweight champ, is one of the most experienced and sophisticated boxers of the Old World. During his boxing career he regularly faced European and world class opponents. Sprott fought against world champions Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster; besides he faced a lot of top-ten and top-twenty fighters like Vladimir Virchis, Timo Hoffmann, Danny Williams, Matt Skelton, Taras Bidenko, Audley Harrison, Paolo Vidoz and the like.

In many cases those fighters met a solid opposition in Michael Sprott who often defeated the favorites on their home turf. Thus Sprott won the fight against his fellow countryman Danny Williams; also he defeated solid German prospects Cengiz Koc and Rene Dettweiler fighting on his rivals’ home turf. Sprott lost very close fights against Matt Skelton and Vladimir Virchis. Many thought him to be the winner in the latter clash; however, judges had different view on his fight against Virchis.

The most surprising and brilliant Sprott’s triumph happened in February of 2007: in round 3 Sprott’s left hook completely destroyed Audley Harrison and gold medallist of Sydney Olympic Summer Games, 2000 could not come to consciousness for several minutes.

In 2008 Michael Sprott fought two times: he lost to Taras Bidenko by judges' unanimous decision in a very close fight and decisioned Zack Page, a firm American journeyman, by points.

In his last fight in March of this year Sprott bravely clashed against Lamon Brewster, former world champ, however, Brewster got a unanimous nod from all three judges.

Ustinov vs. Sprott fight will be a ten-rounder, thus Alexander will not risk his EBA (European Boxing Association) heavyweight belt.
