European light heavyweight champion Jürgen Brähmer has commented on his 83 second annihilation of mandatory challenger Antonio Brancalion on Saturday night in Oberhausen, Germany. “I was pretty confident that I would clearly win this fight,” said Universum’s ‘Hundred Year Talent,’ who is again ranked at #1 by the WBA. “I had my best preparation. I immediately saw the opening with the first punch. We’ll see what comes now. Naturally I would have been happy to box a little longer, but that’s how it is sometimes.”

Brähmer’s trainer Michael Timm added, “Naturally, you’re glad that sometimes you don’t have to go for twelve long rounds. This is a boxing. The fact that Jürgen doesn’t exactly hit like a wad of cotton is clear, however it impressed me how hard and good Jürgen prepared himself. He read the fight very well. I have seen a lot how Jürgen has solved the puzzle. This made me very happy.”

Antonio Brancalion was shellshocked after the quick end. “In twenty years as a professional boxer, I have never been knocked out. I knew that Jürgen was dangerous in the first round. Psychologically, the fight was done for me after the first knockdown.” Brancolion trainer Gino Freo said, “I was surprised that it came to an end so fast. After such a punch at the beginning you just can’t recover. That’s boxing.”
