The participant of the main event of «Comeback Fight» boxing tournament which will be held on May 30th in Kyiv Sport Palace arrived to the capital of Ukraine on May 28th. The flight was due to land at 4:40 p.m. but Cristian could step onto Ukrainian soil only two hours later because of mishap – he flew from Milan via Paris and, unfortunately, all his luggage together with boxing equipment was lost during change of plane. Airline staff promised to deliver the luggage next morning only.
Nevertheless De Martinis did not lose his temper and radiated good humor despite such a misfortune and talked actively to journalists of «Megasport» – a Ukrainian sports TV channel. The boxer said that he came to Ukraine having in mind one thing only – to come back with a win.
«My training for the fight against Zaurbek Baysangurov has been absolutely successful; however, you understand that in a boxing bout the situation may turn one way or another. Only the ring itself will prove whether I’m well-prepared or not. I studied videotapes of Baysangurov’s fights and I can tell you that he is a very good fighter. But the matter is that Zaur will be not alone in the ring – it takes two to fight always and the result depends on each of them equally», – De Martinis said to a group of journalists.
Cristian asked what Ukrainian TV channel would broadcast the fight and was very pleased to hear that the bout would be aired by «Inter» which broadcasts for European countries too including Italy, of course. De Martinis asked also whether there was sauna with scales at his hotel in Kyiv, however, assuring that he never had any problems with his weight.
