Hatton-Judah: Matthew Plans To Expose Zab's Flaws

23 May 2009 09:54       hits 4363 Print version

Matthew Hatton, the younger and overlooked brother of superstar Ricky Hatton, is going to face the biggest challenge of his career when he takes on former two-division champion Zab Judah on July 18. The fight takes place on the pay-per-view undercard to Mayweather-Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Hatton sees the fight was a very big test and respects Judah as a fighter but sees a lot of flaws that he plans to expose in the ring.

"Without a doubt it's the biggest test of my career. I'm stepping up a couple of levels but if I didn't believe that I could do it then I wouldn't take the fight. I'm going into this very confident and I'm looking forward to it," Hatton said.

"I know exactly what I've got to do to beat Zab Judah. He's a very good fighter, slick southpaw. We started working on our gameplan already. He some very good assets but he also has some very big flaws and I think the flaws he does have will play into my hands. I'm and underdog in this fight but I'm very confident of winning."

Hatton has always been viewed as nothing more than "the younger brother of Ricky." With his brother's career close to the end of it's run, Matthew wants to make a name for himself and step away from his brother's shadow.

"I've never worried about what people think to be honest. Stuff like that has never bothered me. The only time I get disappointed is when I'm not performing to the best of my ability and some of the time in my career, that's been the case. There has been a massive improvement in my boxing as of late. I'm performing well at the moment and that's all that I've been concentrating on. This is a massive opportunity and one that I've got to take," Hatton said.
