Power-punching European junior middleweight champion Jamie Moore (32-3, 23 KOs) made a highlight reel of his optional defense against hugely overmatched Ukrainian Roman Dzuman (23-7-1, 10 KOs) tonight at Crowtree Leisure Centre in Sunderland, England. Moore started to dominate light-hitting Dzuman from the very beginning of the contest. In the second round, Moore, who is ranked #6 by the WBC, put his Ukrainian opponent down with the thunderous left hook to the liver and finished him seconds later with the same body punch. Time of the stoppage was 1:11.

Europe’s super bantamweight champion Rendall Munroe (19-1, 8 KOs) added the vacant Commonwealth belt to his list of trophies with a hard-fought unanimous decision over rugged Ghanaian banger Isaac Nettey (with a reported record of 18-6-1, 11 KOs, and with the confirmed record of 3-2-1, 1 KO). Scores were 120-109 and 119-110 (twice), what doesn’t really reflect the competitiveness of the fight. Munroe is ranked #4 by the WBC, #5 by the WBA and the IBF, and #11 by the WBO.

Coming back after the devastating loss to Albert Sosnowski last November, Danny Williams (41-7, 31 KOs) barely retained his British heavyweight crown after the twelve-round split decision over fellow countryman John McDermott (25-5, 16 KOs) with the scores 116-111, 116-111 and 113-115. After an ugly foul-fest in the first half of the fight, dominated by Williams, McDermott came back strong in rounds seven and eight to rock his off-balanced foe during the wild brawl. He managed to keep his tempo till the end of the contest, dealing his share of punishment to the reigning champion and trying his best to avoid Williams’ return fire. However, Danny’s experience and his left jab were key factors for his final success in the fight. Both pugilists were deducted one point each for the excessive use of their elbows in the third round, and Williams also lost a point on constant holding three rounds after that.

In the British light middleweight eliminator, fairly unknown Sam Webb (14-1, 4 KOs) scored the best win of his short career so far by outpointing much more experienced Thomas McDonagh (34-2-3, 7 KOs) over ten rounds with the lone score 96-95 in his favor.

British Beijing Olympics bronze medalist Tony Jeffries (2-0, 2 KOs) scored an easy TKO over no-hoper Roy Meissner (2-10, 2 KOs) at 1:27 of the second round. Meissner was decked three times in the one-sided first stanza, twice for the count.

Also, Russian heavyweight crowd-pleaser Daniel “Shrek” Peretyatko (16-21, 6 KOs) accomplished his regular upset activity by outpointing hard-hitting but raw kayo artist Larry Olubawimo (4-1, 4 KOs) over six rounds with the score: 59-57.
