Felix Trinidad, left, of Puerto Rico and promoter Don King talk with members of the media at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas
Trinidad does have a contract with King that guarantees him at least $10 million per fight. He received around $15 million for last January's decision loss to Roy Jones Jr.
"It is the value that Tito walks around at. And this fight with Hopkins is even bigger than the one with Roy Jones because this is a rematch that people are expecting and the public, especially Puerto Rico, will support," Trinidad told El Nuevo Dia.
"No promoter is giving away money. They know that Tito is a fighter who sells a lot of pay-per-views. Tito lost to Roy Jones but it was not a beating. Tito is still the same. I'm not going above what Tito deserves. I'm not killing the negotiations but if the fight generates so much money, it is fair that all of the parties should benefit."
"A fight with Tito is very interesting. But now it is even more so since Hopkins' win over Pavlik. It showed that he's not finished. This is a rematch Tito deserves and I personally favor."
