After «Golden Boxing II» tournament which was held on April 22nd at «Lokomotiv» Sports Palace in Kharkiv the winner of the main event IBF Inter-Continental light welterweight champion Sergey «The Professor» Fedchenko who retained his belt by TKO win over Diego Jesus «El Carnicero» Ponce and his rival gave some comments on the fight.

Sergey Fedchenko: «The biggest problem for me before the bout was that I did not see any Ponce’s fights so I had to start the fight blindly. Besides it was difficult to land punches on him since Ponce did not want to exchange and was rather passive. However, such fights are useful too. I was sure I would win and I am quite satisfied with my performance. After some rest I’ll continue my quest for world champion belt – there's always room for one more good boxer at the top. I believe I am ready for the fights with top boxers in my division».

Diego Jesus Ponce: «Sergey is a great boxer. His performance was brilliant. Unfortunately I did not manage to do my best. Probably I did not recover completely after long flight. Concerning the bout itself I think my biggest mistake was that I was too slow. But I’m not going to find excuses – I fought and I lost to stronger opponent. I do not object to the referee stopping the fight although I think I could continue. If I have the chance I would eagerly fight in a rematch against Sergey».

As Alexander Krasyuk:, General Manager of K2 East Promotions said it will not take long to see Fedchenko fighting for world champion belt: «Before that fight Sergey already was included into IBF and WBO rankings but now he will move up. I think after not more than one or two more defenses of his Inter-Continental belt he’ll get the chance to fight for a world title and citizens of Kharkiv will have the chance to see for their own eyes how Fedchenko will win it».
